Indie gets to meet Gwen Steffani!!!!!

So Indie was getting chemo when they asked if she wanted to go to the Gwen Steffani concern and to go backstage and meet her and all the good stuff this up coming Monday!!!! She is SOOOOOO excited. A ray or miracle.
Good things can happen.

As things go...

Things go good then they take a turn for the worst. We dodged a bullet last night. She had a fever that was constant and she was about to go to Primary's when it dropped to normal. That was one of the best feelings in the world.

Last update.

Indie is finally at home and we are soo relieved. I cannot express in words how hard it is to have half of your family gone for that amount of time. It feels, let's say very unpleasant.
In the good news side Indie and Avery both received fishing poles for Easter . Indie's is purple with a touch of pink and Avery's is blue. They have a fishing class every Wednesday and they both love it!
I guess we kind of had it really easy during the last phase. It felt like normalcy or whatever normal used to be. We never mean to complain if it seems like that because we count our blessings every day. It just gets really hard even on the best days. Yes, she is young and there will be a complete recovery yet somehow it does not make it easier. I guess that this is a marathon and not a sprint yet we are only a little way in and we are all tired.
I think that sometimes tired is the best that you can hope for.

Thank you for the warm sun and the cool spring. The best part of life. We hope your Easter was all you wanted and needed.

Coming Home

Indie will be coming home this afternoon. She isn't too happy about it either, she knows that she won't get waited on hand and foot like at the hospital and that the food won't be the same. She seriously hesitated when the Dr. said, "so would you like to go home today?" She has missed her dad, sibs and puppy so at least she has something to look forward to! She would love visitors or even a phone call. She is feeling really good and her counts are normal although she is coming home on 6 prescriptions! Anyone got any great pill reminder ideas??? I have notes all over the house and the pills are in the middle of the island in the kitchen but we still forget!

At the hospital again

Hello everyone! Indie is in the hospital again with an infection of some kind. She came down on Thursday with a fever (we automatically bring her when she runs a fever of 100 or higher) and mouth sores (from chemo) and they put her in the PICU because her heart rate was really low due to the infection. Her blood counts are good so we are grateful for that. She'll probably be here until Tuesday morning, the Dr.'s want to make sure her fever and the infection are under control and that her heart rate stays stable. She actually is feeling really good and keeping herself busy drawing, drawing, drawing and watching cartoon marathons on Cartoon Network. She's keeping the nurses on their toes asking for them to get her craft things and drinks every 5 minutes, which is definitely better than asking for pain killers every 5 minutes!

April 6, 2007

Sorry we haven't been updating the blog, we no longer have the Internet so we aren't able to check in as much. Things are going pretty good. Indie has a week off from treatments, until the 17th. She will go in for a back poke and more chemo. Her hair is falling out again, you'd think that it wouldn't be as hard this time where her hair is only a couple of inches long, but it is. (I have to keep reminding myself what it was like to be 12!) For the most part she has been feeling pretty good. Her and Avery and Gracie are off track for a few weeks.
