The Day after First Treatment.

Now that we've rested a bit, things don't seem quite as overwhelming. After a rough night, Indie is feeling pretty good today. Dr. Yaish (he will be the Dr. we work with throughout all of this) did a spinal tap to test for cancer cells in the brain (this came back good too!:) ) and spinal fluid and a spinal injection of chemo, so that was good a sore. We received a lot of information about Indies care, I feel like I had a weeks worth of nursing school in one day! Dr. Downey (surgeon) placed a central line in her chest that is connected to her heart and a soft tube hangs out just below her collar bone. That is where she will get her chemo medication once a week and where they will draw her blood to be tested each week as well. Her chemo will be every Tuesday for the next 4 weeks. This probably seems jumbled. It's still sinking in so, this is just how it is in my head. Also her treatment will be for 2 years. This is so they are certain that ALL cancer cells are gone. Thank goodness for modern medicine and lots and lots of prayers! We have an amazing line if support, THANK YOU ALL!!!

Hi Indie,

Your aunt Allison told me about your lymphoma and your blog, so I decided to check it out and say hello. Allison and I have been friends for a long time. I know your mom and dad and your grandma and grandpa too. I remember when you were born but haven't seen you since about the time Avery was born. I'm glad you posted a picture so that I could see that you are still just as cute as ever. Hang in there, sweetie! You will have good days and bad days. But every day you will have people watching out for you and praying for you. Everything will work out!

Your new/old friend, Nate

Dear Indie,
Wow! Life can sure take a dramatic turn without a moment's notice. I still don't know what to think of this whole thing--actually I guess there is still some shock--like this can't be really happening to such a beautiful girl. But I imagine you, mom, and dad are becoming experts about everything very fast. You will have quite the roller coaster ride of ups and downs in the coming months, but just know that we are with you. We too will learn many things with you, about you, and about ourselves through this ordeal. We have already learned again what we have already known about you, that you are a strong and loving spirit. All will be well. Our hearts and thoughts are with you everyday in some way.

We Love You!
Aunt Pam

Hola Indie,
I can still see your beautiful baby picture in my mind that your Aunt Allison used to show off to us (her friends). I think you're a great example of a positive and happy person and I know you're loved by so many people. Yesterday when I was in the temple I made sure they prayed for you. I know it might seem like there are rough days ahead, and remember it's okay to cry, but also remember just how much you're loved! I am so glad your aunt Allison told us about your site! You're awesome!
